We develop cutting-edge methodologies and tools
that address real-world data challenges in data management,
data science, and AI.
The Information Systems Group (ISGroup)
was established in 2001 by Prof. Paolo
Tiberio and it is currently located in the Department of Physics Informatics
and Mathematics (FIM) of the University of Modena and
Reggio Emilia.
For years, our research has been at the forefront of
managing multifaceted information, from
unstructured text to semi-structured, graph-based, and
streaming data. These diverse data types present significant
challenges, and at ISGroup, we specialize in developing
methodologies and tools that enable efficient and effective
management of non-conventional data across a wide range of
applications, ranging from distributed systems to streaming
processing.
As AI continues to reshape the landscape of computer science
research, we have extended our expertise to the
systematic engineering of data used to build AI
systems. Our core focus includes:
- AI-powered solutions for processing complex, real-world data
- Transparent, data-centric AI models that ensure interpretability and trust
- Scalable, distributed learning solutions that deliver high performance and efficiency while preserving data privacy.
Our innovations are driving impactful change in key
sectors, including healthcare, smart manufacturing, and
natural language processing (NLP), enabling actionable
insights and transformative solutions.
